rolling to spec in pugs

The reason you don't see xilver, yoog and astatine around is because they were banned. For offclassing. -
rolling to spec in pugs

If I might be so bold as to request something of utmost importance, I might ask that all of you vote; for me. I will say anything you like so long as you vote for me; there is nothing I cannot promise you. Good morning. -
AsiaFortress Academy 3 Ask-Us-Anything thread.
iridescentFUZZ replied to natapon's topic in AsiaFortress Academy
We do not currently host an HL league, and HL PuGs tend to be sort of rare. You'd need to add people who organise them, or possibly join the HL PuG steam group for notifications. I have no idea how active the UGC HL scene is. -
120hz Monitor and cl_cmdrate/cl_updaterate/fps_max
iridescentFUZZ replied to blurr's topic in Archive
I'd like to point out that leaving your FPS uncapped, or capped above a stable framerate is the complete opposite of optimal, if you're looking for a well-synced game. One reason is because an uncapped framerate is highly unlikely to be stable, and the second reason is in the post quoted below http://asiafortress....dpost__p__26441 The only addendum to the above post I can think of would be to say that if you're really paranoid about having everything(netcode, physics, rendering, AND monitor refresh rate) in sync, you could theoretically use these settings assuming you have a 120Hz monitor: fps_max 120(or 240 if it's stable) rate 100000 cl_cmdrate 60 cl_updaterate 60 cl_interp 0.015 cl_interp_ratio 2 The above settings would ensure that a network packet is sent and received on alternate frames, and alternate monitor refreshes, giving you the most synchronised input(keyboard/mouse) and output(monitor) The crux of my argument is this: The more rigidly you cap your framerate to match netcode, the less useless information your game has to "make up" to send to your display, and the more in-sync that information will be with your netcode(and display if you match it right). -
I currently have 5 active mentees and will not be taking any more for a while.

regarding MGE and PUGs
iridescentFUZZ replied to viser's topic in Suggestions, Feedback & Contributions
MGE killed my parents. I don't see the issue with the PuG point system. It's not as accurate as anyone would like it to be in gauging skill, but that's irrelevant because you can't do stupid MGE-like things in PuGs and get free points. This comes from someone with below 1600 in the PuG system if I'm not mistaken. -
I try and call or tell newer players what/what not to do when I remember to, but that isn't every time, and I think that's how it is with a lot of people as well. I think the main problem is that most people just don't like calling or mentoring during PuGs because you have to balance that with your own awareness and death-matching ability. You do admittedly have people just complaining rather than providing any useful advice, but eh.

I didn't realise making recruitment posts in the Queen's English was a new requirement. Apparently parents don't teach their kids etiquette these days. Oh wait, this is the internet.

[AFC7 DIV2] Round 9: Team InAdequacy vs. A Clockwork Enigma
iridescentFUZZ replied to joe's topic in Completed Matches
Friday the 30th, AF servers is good with us. Maybe 9:30 PM instead of 9:00. -
Wow, that was spectacular; all the upsets, all the close games, the comebacks and all the ridiculous headshots. The Australians proved that they can compete with the best from NA and EU, broder finally took another close map off Epsilon, and Epsilon has had their revenge for i46. Most importantly, for everyone in this community who is throwing in endless "helpful" suggestions while sitting on their asses, everyone who likes to bemoan the state of the community, everyone who likes to shout from the rooftops that TF2 or comp TF2 is dead/dying, take a tiny look at what John from www.twitch.tv has to say about statstics related to competitive TF2 viewership. Think about how much bigger we could be if everyone got off their asses and actually DID something for a change. Or at the very least, if certain elements of this community stopped actively driving people away because they're too mentally fragile to handle a couple of meaningless PuGs being ruined. /soapbox

After an impressive crowd-funding effort by the global TF2 community, the Australians, Team Immunity and the North-American-b4nny-team High Rollers Gaming have made their way to Telford, London for the biggest TF2 event of the decade at the Multiplay insomnia-49 LAN! You! Yes, you, the viewers get to watch as five of the best TF2 teams battle it out over the 23rd, 24th and 25th of August for 5000 pounds in prize money, and more importantly, the title of international TF2 champions. Will HRG pick up where Classic Mixup left off last i-series and claim another NA victory, will Epsilon cement themselves as the new international super-team, or will Team Immunity, broder and infused overcome their past performances and cause a massive upset? Be it SourceTV, mumble, casts, interviews and on-site coverage, watch all the action unfold live at: http://www.vanillatf2.org/ http://www.twitch.tv/vanillatv http://www.twitch.tv/vanillatv2 Tournament schedule(Times are in UTC+8): Group stages 24/08/2013 02:00 Knockout stages 24/08/2013 17:00 Finals 25/08/2013 23:00

Unfortunately, from their scrims vs. broder, infused and Epsilon, it seems yuki is pretty much the only player on iM who can match the likes of Mike and b4nny. They'll most likely be playing for 3rd, to at least be able to say they can beat the 2nd and 3rd best Prem teams in Europe.

Players without a team are not allowed to join AFC7 during a transfer window
iridescentFUZZ replied to Lime's topic in Archive
What Azazel said. The admins can't be expected to do background checks on every player that enters the tournament after registration because someone lacked foresight or simply didn't pad their roster enough. When a huge 12-person roster registers there's a very high chance at least one of the admins has seen or heard of scrim results with at least 6-8 from that roster, which makes deciding a division much simpler. On the other hand, when you sign up with 6 and then theoretically add another 4-6, not only do the admins have to figure out whether the players would otherwise increase the overall team division, but they also have to do ridiculous amounts of background checks because of all the stupidity caused by people in past tournaments. So at most, moving the "Allows non-registered player" clause to the 2nd window might be considered. Of course, that's next season. -
