i dont really see the point of recording in 240 if youre not going to supersample it for extreme motion blur or you're planning to have some greenscreen/chromakey areas that need to be slowed down to 1/8x speed (given you're rendering at 30fps? seems sensible) you would generally record the frames at 90, encode in vdub at 30 and fix the timescale by shortening the clip to the size of the .wav file in vegas. it's not rocket science. note that using colour correction as hideous as that will probably double your render time. for something like this (in amazing 1080p): -set your resolution to whatever the fuck you want to record in (1080p or 720p is recommended but i've also recorded at my game res 1920*960 or my native res 1900*1200 and it looks fine. -make tf2 look all pretty like. most spastic movie makers will tell you that you need a config for this with a hundred idiotic graphics settings. what i've discovered is that the only settings that make a gargantuan difference in your output quality are the settings you can change in your video options (hint: change them to max to make it look pretty) -delete all your horse porn so you have a decent amount of hard drive space -open a demo -go to your shit frag at tick x that you want to make into a s1ck fr4g v1d -startmovie (x) -> the x denotes the framerate and for christ's sake you spastics it's basic math. vegas will allow you to render in any framerate you want, but it's best to capture raw footage at an integer factor of what you will decide to render at. for example, if you're rendering at 50fps, you'll want to capture at 100 or 150 or 200 because any of those numbers divided by 50 is an integer and that makes it simpler to encode. -once you're done capturing your ~s1ck fr4g m0m3nt~ open the frames in virtualdub (megui causes cancer, avoid) -go to video -> compression and pick lagarith lossless codec. if you have 85 1tb drives in raid 69 you could probably go uncompressed, but any other codec is a waste of time at this point -go to video -> framerate and set it to the framerate you want to render in -save it as a raw avi -open the raw avi in vegas -put some shit music on it, sync with some garbage frags, edit it, whatever -go to file-> render as and pick your codec. i suggest h.264 or xvid, as it makes things look pretty. -render (at the same framerate you encoded in obviously) -put your shit video up on youtube and get laughed at it's quite simple. i don't understand why people have to overcomplicate it. the pldx thing is utter garbage btw.
