It is a viable strat as long as they aren't using a map exploit.

what is the time start and end in the event???
Starts at 7:00pm on the 29th.
Wait so if the defenders kill the home teams Saxton' date=' then the home team has to kill the Saxton faster?
[/quote']
Yes, they have to beat the time set by the attacking team. In the first round the home team sets the timer, then the away team sets the timer in map 2.

Have you spent your TF2 career training to get yourself in the hall of fame? Do you have what it takes to be the best TF2 player ever?!
If you do.... This probably isn't the event for you, but hey it'll still be fun. I'm proud to present the AsiaFortress Halloween event coming next week; the first ever Saxton tournament!
I, Kig, personally guarantee this will be the most manly thing you will do in your TF2 career.
So, if you think you want to win prizes and you realize that Saxton Hale is pretty fun and easy, why not sign up for the event.
All you need is to sign up with eight other friends so you can make a team. The event will be a tournament style bracket where teams will go against each other in this game mode.
In the match, one team will be assigned "home" and the other "away". The home team will elect one member for their team to be Saxton Hale in round one. He/She will have to beat the other team in a map of their choice to set the timer. Next, the away team will select their Saxton and try to beat the time that the home team set. If they fail to do so, the home team gets the point and you move on to the next map in a best of three set. In the next set the away team chooses the map and sets the timer and they must choose a different player to be Saxton Hale.
The stopwatch format will work similar to the map Gravel Pit. We use the stopwatch so that we know how long it took for the defenders to kill Saxton (or Saxton to kill the defenders).
The defending teams will have to be split up highlander style with all unlocks permitted. One of each class, no more and no less.
This may sound a little bit hard to follow so you may want to read through this scenario that will answer any questions.
On the 29th there will be a thread that has the matches for that day and one team will be listed as home and the other away. The event will start at 7pm (+8gmt) and continue on for the matches of the night. The home team will pick their map, for example arena_badlands. The home team will select their player to be Saxton. That player will attack the away team on badlands and if he wipes the whole thing, we mark the time. If the defenders kill him we mark the time. Then, when the away team elects their Saxton he tries to kill the other team in a faster time. If he does not, the home team gets one point and then they go to the next map where roles are shifted.
The winning team will stand a chance to win items, keys, and hats for all nine players on their teams.
So, if you were TL and DR the main text wall of this post. Here's what you need to know.

Registration ends on the 27th
Signups can be found at the following link http://asiafortress.com/thread-1833.html ! For any queries, please add them here below! Also, the event server is currently set up at bakemono.servegame.org:27017. You can use it for normal Saxton action at the moment.
Signup today for more MANLY fun. :DDD
On a side note, in line with the TF2 Halloween Theme, we've converted our pug server into a 24/7 cp_manor_event server till the end of the halloween theme event from Valve. We've tweaked the servers a little so that the HHH spawns more frequently, but at the expense of a greater base health for the HHH. The server can be found at bakemono.servegame.org:27015 .
So that's all from asiafortress.com and hope you enjoy what we have planned for you!

I've noticed that in each country there are classes that stand out. In the US you have really strong soldiers, in Asia its all about them scouts and snipers, etc.
1.) What would you say is the class that people fear the most in Australia?
2.) Has Robin Walker's research money saved any of your friends from being Australian?
3.) Also do you have another name that you go by in game?

I used to play SSBB competitively before TF2. Like errday

Yeah I lot like MGE. The only difference is that I wouldn't give away anything from Kig's top secret tactic book. It would just be basic things, I'm afraid people will plagiarize my gravel pit and badlands strats if I reveal too much.

I think something really informative would be for me to put up a whole demo with full commentary so you guys can learn the thought process.
Keep in mind though, you don't need to have my style of playing medic, there are many more reliable and better ways than I play. This is merely to give you some ideas of how the game should be played.
-
Yeah, its important to be able to take a look at the situation and decide who needs to be buffed first. Cleric is absolutely right, you should buff the scouts because they run off and cover flanks as soon as the fight is over.
-
-
Priority List:
Demo to full health
Roaming Soldier to full health
Scouts to full health
Pocket Soldier to full health
Roaming Soldier buffed
Demo buffed
Scouts buffed
Pocket Soldier buffed
That should be your priority list. Obviously these players should be near you, you don't have to follow it strictly but it is most important to get your demo back to full health first.
You don't need to run around to heal people, let them come to you. It is important to have everyone at least full health before a push so take your time. A good coordinated push is better than rushing it and dying.

I can count to ten

IMPORTANT QUESTION: Did you spend more time watching the cartoon girls or the weirdo Asian guys?

BWT Se7en. This was my plan from the start, I never had an AFA server in mind, what I wanted to do was have a club that has organized events every few days.
Emir was a bit excited :S (This is 78% a joke)
EDIT: I told K about all this and we are trying to work it out. I'm pretty busy though

is there any route to take on any map' date=' that allows the medic to cover shorter distance when walking to mid during initial roll out?
most of the time if our demoman's and soldier's rollout is impressive, they leave me without heal buddies for around that 3-4 seconds which obviously means slower charging, and im trying my best to catch up but i always get left behind :<
tl;dr, surefire shortcuts during rollout(pls take gran as example if you can)
tyvm in advance =3
[/quote']
Well, because the medic doesn't have any real way of increasing his mobility it is actually the soldier's responsibility to stay with you and continue the heals. You should communicate with the soldier so that it won't happen again. I will go over the rollout for granary soon
TQ. Will be keeping up to date with your channel!
Kig' date=' I think my medic has actually become worse because of AFA pugs =( During battles taking last I suddenly go suicidal battle medic.
Need some real scrims, but on my current team I'm being asked to play solly/demo.
[/quote']
Like brandon said you can't really get worse, medic can be frustrating. Just keep in mind that you should always be thinking ahead and concentrating on your next move. Remember that if you make a mistake you should learn from it and make sure you never make it again. That's one of the best tips I can give.
-
Hey Medics! :medic:
Hopefully you guys are all practicing and learning from the pro tips that cleric and teal gave out on the day of AFA. Unfortunately I couldn't make it because steam was acting up but I can still offer lots of help to new medics out there.
I was in the mumble when you guys were going through the class and it was interesting to hear the differences between my play-style and the other medic mentors in the channel. For example I play slightly more aggressive with my ubersaw.
Anyway, to help you guys learn some other key things that I think are important I've created an own3d.tv channel where I will deconstruct some of my demos for learning purposes. They will either highlight some medic tips or some general map strategies and I DO take requests so post them in this thread.
Here's the link with my first video up already: http://www.own3d.tv/kigbariom
Please, if you have specific questions about medic or map strategy ask me and I can get up a demo for you within a day.
Goodluck and remember, pop it don't drop it.

Do you know of anyone who has payed for a premium account at MGE? Is it worth it to learn all the pro things? I've always thought I had good game-sense but some of the videos I've seen from their membership are really great.
