  1. I used to main pyro, and I'm telling you it's not as easy as you think it is.

Same reason why you don't usually see pyros being used in scrims or pugs, because they're extremely situational.

My take on this is that while it wouldn't hurt to have pyros in MGE, it wouldn't make that much of a difference since the pyro is outclassed unless it can get up close, and even then all it takes to kill the pyro would be a rocket to the face, a scattergun blast to aforementioned region, or even-

Point is, that it'll usually fall back into bouts of W+M1ing before long.

Since we're at this why not add medics into MGE then

  2. I think one thing to take into consideration is each player's individual pugging track record-

You gotta get those down pat first, I guess. Your chances of getting picked pretty much drop if you gave your team problems before, like not having a mic or not listening to team mates. It's something to keep in mind that people in general do not want to lose. The fact that this community is pretty tightly knit and small makes it all the more worse, since word travels around fast.

I don't mind the current system, honestly speaking. I'm a new medic myself, so I'm not too sure myself, but it seems that being in the server early, and having a sound track record pretty much determine if you'll be picked, based on the people my team mates tell me to pick(most of the time).

Well, don't worry, you'll always have the chance to have a turn.

I mean, even Calvin GOR(Best Calvin ever) and Cheesus got to play. Just hang around a bit more, get into mumble so as to facilitate plays and have a mic?

Iunno what to say anymore, maybe a more experienced member could provide more ideas on how the system can be improved?

  3. That's just how it is, man.

    We have lives too, y'know.

It's not like we play TF2 every single waking hour of our lives and stuff.

Anyway, if you're bored, just go around and say Hi, maybe someone might talk to you.

Just be mindful though, I've stepped on a few toes doing just that-

Some people just don't like talking to random people.

  4. As an animator, I can say that he helped shape the industry and the kind of films you see these days-

He helped build pixar into an animation and production powerhouse, no easy feat for a man. And that in turn made it possible for people to continue pushing limits in animated film-making. While we have shitty movies like cars or that hoodwinked rubbish, we've seen our fair share of great stories surface in the last few years.

    Here's to you, Steve.

  5. Just went through my first internal, fucked up big time.

    Questions:

    - What is the optimal distance away from your heal target, and if a heal target is caught in heavy fire, to save or not to save?

-If all teammates are down, what to do? Head back to base or wait for backup?

-Pocket is down, will the roaming replace the pocket? Or should I retreat and wait for the pocket?

-What constitutes as too "aggressive", and how do I get out of this bad habit?

-In large open areas, e.g Badlands mid and badlands greybridge, what is the usual order of business? Especially if the pocket and the roaming have gone up to cap the spire, where do I go?

-Aggro players, stick with or ditch?

-During rollout, how do you get to healing people on time when they launch themselves too far off to heal?

Heal to full health, or buff?

Who to heal, who to buff?

That's more or less as much as I can remember about my disastrous healing issues.

  7. To be frank, I think the AFA still faces it's fair share of issues, but it has been extremely helpful for beginners like me. Being able to grow with a group of similarly skilled people allows for a bit more breathing space than with a normal pug, the last one I played with Kig and the rest resulted in me fucking up big time, due to the faster pace at which the match was going at. I ended up dropping out and speccing after I realised I simply wasn't good enough. I still need some time to understand the game and how to apply myself, and I think the AFA should stay for the purpose of allowing us amateurs to grow into our chosen roles. It's been good so far, but I notice games become unbalanced real fast when experienced players come into the game, in which it quickly devolves into "who can pick the best first". From what I've heard from a teammate, these things happen more often these days, with 4 experienced players on one team, and afa regs on the other. Another case (might not be related) was that experienced players stacked when the team med picked them and ended the game pretty quickly.

Iunno, just thought that this should be looked into.

No point in AFA if team meds pick experienced ones just for convenience's sake.

Kudos to the people keeping AFA running though, it's been a good place to get that rush, and to work with different people.
