if the offer is still up, please teach me. I can't play anything extremely well anyway.

Will train up, DC might be disbanded. Just need to survive my job attachment first, my boss is a fucking bitch to work with.

Hi, I'm kind of a new guy around. Orange from Derp crew here, I've been having problems connecting to the e-club match servers these few days. I've tried most things, like opening ports, restarting the router, etc. I've also gotten friends to join the servers and invite me over, but all I ever get is this "Server is not responding" error, and if trying to connect via console gives me this "disconnected after 4 retries" message. Can anyone lend me a hand here? It's kind of urgent, since my team's matches are up tomorrow. Sorry if I sound kind of rude, I'm getting a bit desperate here.

I'll be playing at a teammate's place until I get my shit resolved. The modem is placed at a really bad area, so it's not possible for me to go stick the cable in. -
Issues connecting to the Starhub servers?
Pickled_Orange replied to Pickled_Orange's topic in Archive
Yeah, other computers in my house still face the same issue. The issue seems to be with my net somehow, other places I can actually connect to the Pugging servers. I've already sent a ticket to e-club, no reply yet. -

Tried that, not working. I reset the router again, disabled the router firewall and even opened the ports up again. Got this after trying Ding's suggestion out: ] connect 203.116.80.197:27018; password eclubmatch Network: IP 192.168.1.122, mode MP, dedicated No, ports 27015 SV / 27005 CL Connecting to 203.116.80.197:27018... Retrying 203.116.80.197:27018... Retrying 203.116.80.197:27018... Retrying 203.116.80.197:27018... Connection failed after 4 retries. -
I saw this on a thread in a certain cesspool yesterday. Good stuff.

Well, here's another paste from recently. I've called Singtel to reset my net almost 3 times already, I stopped because the whole family was sick of having to change the password for our net on their devices. ] connect 203.116.80.197:2701 Connecting to 203.116.80.197:2701... Retrying 203.116.80.197:2701... ] connect 203.116.80.197:27018 Connecting to 203.116.80.197:27018... Retrying 203.116.80.197:27018... Retrying 203.116.80.197:27018... Retrying 203.116.80.197:27018... [Final Round] Derp Crew vs PlayAndEnjoy
Pickled_Orange replied to hcaz's topic in Team Fortress 2 Masters 2011
Sorry about this, we've been swamped with work recently. So you've already selected all two for us? Is there any way we could still choose? We're only free on weekend nights though, since most of us are working till late at night, and some of us have our Polytechnic Attachments starting this week. If any of you can add me, we can sort a timing out. -
Well, the issue with that is mainly that I can't even get to the password part, and trying to connect manually via IP just gives me the same "stopped connecting after 4 retries". Other than that the masters server doesn't even show up on my list.
-
I can't seem to access the password protected servers at all, I'm getting the same issue with the masters servers like #20. I've even gone to reset my internet service(The whole force-reset for router and calling singtel for a new password), and I'm still not able to access ANY server. The other starhub servers work fine, like the ones with Alphabets and the ones open to public like [cp4ever]. Anyone can help?

end up half my team gonna ditch after masters damn you portal 2 !!! ........Yeah, I know this feeling. Then again, it's not fair to call most of the players these days F2Ps. I noticed it's become something of a derogatory term here, and I've seen my fair share of F2P players pick the game up faster than most of the older players. Just throwing it out there for you guys. And yeah. I think most of us newbies were signed up for this because some people wanted portal 2, and needed people to fill the team quota, resulting in some of us having to do most of the work after the original team members drop out due to the pressure. Iunno, I feel that teams need to mentally prepare themselves for serious play, and stop using "playing for fun" as an excuse to handicap themselves and the team. Not to mention that most of the original team members have stopped playing entirely or dropped out because they weren't prepared for the kind of strain competitive play introduces. But hey, it's been an eye opener for me and a few teammates of mine so far. Some of them have been practicing more seriously, and we've definitely seen improvements when playing in pub servers, stupid as it sounds. Maybe it's a good thing that the prize was Portal, or else some of us might never have decided to join. I just feel that maybe, the competition should hold a quota of pugs before they allow a team to join in future, although it sounds troublesome. I feel that maybe having teams play PUGs at least 3 times before joining might allow them to prepare themselves, and save them the hassle of dropping out or disbanding midway after the team cracks under pressure, since they could use the games to gauge readiness. Just my two cents, hope it makes sense.

I kind of stopped playing after my laptop blew up (Yes, it did.), but watching my team fold after some members gave up was disheartening. There were the really serious members, and the few that started to stop giving a damn after it was apparent that winning was near impossible. I think the main issue is with how people prioritise such things, "People who only seem to give a fuck when it suits them" is a statement that couldn't be truer. When people stop trying altogether, they stop learning. And while I agree with Flare's last statement, I feel that this time's masters was a good eye opener for most of us pubbers. It made members of my team work harder than they ever did, made them re-evaluate play attitudes, and some even held practice sessions among themselves. So even though some members stopped giving two shits and fucked the team, it made some of us motivated enough to want to work towards getting a decent level of play, even if we're not good enough. Well, just my 2 cents' worth. I do think that the tone towards the newbies can be worked upon, though.
