I love whoever made this poster.
  5. Congratulations to Setsail and bubuchacha on your win! This bracket is live and up-to-date. If you have a match that is unplayed on the bracket, I will try and schedule it -- but by all means, please try and get it going yourself. The bracket may change for players who have not yet played. IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to the recent 'hatless update', many, many people are having "Engine Error" issues. Please check if you are having this problem prior to match time tomorrow. With that said...the seeding rounds are over (although Valve tried their hardest to stop them by giving half of all TF2 players an unfixable engine error, thanks for that Gabe). The bracket has been drawn and is posted below! The finals will be held at 10:45PM Sunday April the 17th! Here's a server list, if you want to have a few play for fun games. We may need to hijack the queue if we have a bracket game going on. SH 8 -- 202.156.3.185:27017 (pw: tf2pickup, thanks Hammifer for setting it up) eClub -- 203.116.63.117:27015 (pw: ultiduo) eClub -- 203.116.63.117:27016 (pw: ultiduo) m1lk's -- 1.64.217.36 (no password, not always up) To change map on the Starhub server, use the new Vote command (in the main menu, it appears as a tick mark). You can restart the tournament mode using mp_tournament_restart. If you have ping issues to Starhub, or if you are banned, we can arrange other servers for you to play in. Please let me know if you are banned from or have connection issues to Starhub Pickup #8. Note that all matches up until the semifinals and finals are SINGLE ELIMINATION. Please submit POV demos for a chance to be in the highlights / shoutcast / recap video! P-REC IS CURRENTLY BROKEN, so you'll have to record demoes by typing "record ultiduo" in console. There will be STV available, but it will likely only be utilized for the finals. GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN!
  6. Thanks bandito del assa.
  7. I too would like to blame my loss on lag Really well played 2ragic.
  8. Check here for demos -- http://asiafortress.com/thread-1398-page-2.html
  9. NOTE: PLEASE SIGN UP BY MIDNIGHT SINGAPORE TIME FRIDAY! Competitive TF2 is a fickle hellcat, and a wild beast to tame. On one hand, you've got legendary hitscan scouts and snipers (as anyone who saw the recent Mercenary's Cup finale can attest; ozr has slept in the corpse of water buffalo tougher than you). Then, you've got the tacticians, legendary God-like Medics who always know when to pop ubers and demomen who place sticky traps in team-wrecking locations. On the other hand, you've got the bound-in-blood and worryingly erotic relationship between a medic and his pocket soldier. Without further ado, I present . . . koth_ultiduo is a simple map -- no choke points, no imba resupply cabinets, not a two-way door to be seen -- just a lone control point and a walkway above it: a perfect arena for two soldier-medic combos to duke it out in a five-to-ten minute match. How will the tournament work? Simple -- if you are interested in playing, simply message (or get a friend to message) m1lk as soon as possible. Send the nicks of each player and the classes they will be playing in the competition. If you see your name added to the sign up sheet below, you're in! This Friday (the 15th of April), we'll have seeding rounds, where players will be roughly estimated for skill and paired with similar opponents. Players can play Friday for optional seeding matches. These practice matches will help me get an idea of the overall strength of each team. For reference, the original seeding will be done based on players of equal quality. The bracket will be built using players of opposite quality -- the difference between skill will be more apparent the earlier in the bracket you are. Once the seeding is complete the bracket will be drawn and the competition will start the next day (Saturday the 16th). Madman will have a koth_ultiduo server up at a to-be-determined time. If you have any particular time constraints on Saturday, please let us know -- otherwise we should be able to get through all initial bracket matches on Saturday, finishing the remainder of matches on Sunday. In the same vein as the Mercenaries Cup, this is a quick, simple tournament. Also, to keep any administrative issues to a minimum, here be the rules: - All unlocks will be banned using itemwhitelist.txt. The only exception is the ubersaw, as ubersaws are the spice of TF2. - Classlimits will be enforced, one soldier, one medic per team. - You cannot switch places with your medic / soldier. - Bracket rounds will be single elimination. - Pauses are allowed if your partner disconnects. - Anything that can be done in-game is legal and allowed, barring any significant exploits or glitches that may become apparent in-game. - Play with a positive mindset. This should be a fun, quick-and-easy competition. - If you cannot meet your allotted time within ten minutes, you will be disqualified. If you can notify us one hour ahead of the match if one or both players cannot make it, your match can be rescheduled. What’s the point of playing? Simple enough. The winners of the tournament will get one reclaimed metal each. That’s more of a consolation prize, the real reason to play is that it is a fun, simple challenge that’ll help you place your general skill set versus your AFL peers! If you are interested in joining, please get word to me through Steam, talk to me in the PGTF2 mumble channel, or whatever it takes -- just let me know that you're interested, and I'll add you to the sign up list here. Please make note if you are (forever) alone, ie, a soldier without a medic -- perhaps I can help find you a free agent to play with. It'd be great if we get at least 32 players total in this quick competition! Current participants are as follows (may be subject to change in the final tournament) : Soldier / medic pocket combos -- 1) m1lk (soldier), Kig (medic) 2) 2ragic (soldier), Brandon (medic) 3) zAyd (soldier), splink (medic) 4) Spammah (soldier), TEAL (medic) 5) Jae (soldier), Krypt (medic) 6) Moony (soldier), Chrome (medic) 7) Lycan (soldier), Paranoia (medic) 8) Ethereal (soldier), Ritz (medic) 9) Rainbow Khyour (soldier), Rainbow Prodirus (medic) 10) Carl the Crumplemeleoneonnenenon (Soldier), Crimson_Soulz (medic) 11) GAR (soldier), Magik (medic) 12) Haruhi (soldier), Emir (medic) 13) azf. (soldier), kikapoo (medic) 14) Cobalt (soldier), Adelante (medic) 15) Prinny 1 (soldier), Prinny 2 (medic) 16) Aycan (soldier), Jr (medic) 17) ozr (soldier), Firidd (medic) 18) Leon (soldier), MC-117 (medic) 19) Mr. Brightside (soldier), Avertyn (medic) 20) Nasty (soldier), Priss (medic) 21) xarata (soldier), acxeee (medic) 22) setsail (soldier), Bubuchacha (medic) NOTES Here's a forum post on ozfortress where you can pick up a copy of the map and get a little more information. Place it in your ../tf/maps/ folder. http://www.ozfortress.com/maps/TF2/koth_ultiduo

  11. Well most content management systems have a tag or something that truncates long posts from the front page, but Asiafortress' designer only has a copy of HTML For Dummies for reference
  12. TF2Pickup #8 are live now if you're interested in warmup games. The actually tournament will start tomorrow around 4:00PM.
  13. Is that a clue? are u bot? GLaDOS?
  14. Haruhi -- sorry, I choose your opponents (so bribe me with hats plz kkthx). However, doing well in the seeding rounds will place you ahead of the competition. Kikapoo and Adelante -- this is on Saturday, right?
  15. A refined metal to each winner, plus a copy of the new Humble Indie Bundle. TELL YOUR FRIENDS!
  16. PRIS IS IN? SHUT DOWN EVERYTHING
  17. We have a 33.33% (recurring of course) chance of winning this competition.
  18. // AFL koth_ultiduo item_whitelist.txt // There are two ways to create this list: either as a blacklist or a whitelist. // Blacklists will ban all items except those listed. // Whitelists will unban all items except those listed. // You can change from a blacklist by switching "unlisted_items_default_to" to "1" (then, of course), you'd want to ban specific items like this // "The Ubersaw" "0" "item_whitelist" { "unlisted_items_default_to" "0" "The Ubersaw" "1" } This way, when the AFL Ultiduo configuration is triggered at the start of each round, it will enable the item_whitelist.txt definitions -- in this case, banning all weapons except the Ubersaw (including hats, perhaps we as a community can decide if we want them in or out for simplicity's sake).
  19. Thanks, Sam. That looks like a great config to use. I'll be adding the item_whitelist.txt to it, but otherwise that's what we'll use.

    Mercs Cup Schedule & Brackets

PGTF2 vs xQ was 5-1 Badlands, 4-0 Granary, both in favor of xQ. No screenshots were taken, unfortunately, as the servers kept crashing and disconnecting us. EDIT: Good to see that Fluffy 6 were disqualified for their poor sportsmanship and racism during the game.

    STEP RIGHT UP!

Yeah. Understood. Will we be using Asiafortress servers for the AFL5? Do we have to?
