Possible events that can be held?

Go ahead. No one's stopping him. Looking at things in a long term prospective so suggestions would be great. Thanks to the rest who have suggested some ideas, keep them coming! We'll put them up for consideration.

    Kig's AFA Mentoring Channel

I'mma try to give some opinions. Others can disagree if you think my way is wrong. Questions: - What is the optimal distance away from your heal target, and if a heal target is caught in heavy fire, to save or not to save? stay as close if not in danger. stay a bit further when your target is getting spam. if the heavy fire involves you in the vicinity, fall back if you know that dude is going to die. your uber advantage is more important. -If all teammates are down, what to do? Head back to base or wait for backup? run back to the nearest spawn point. your safety and uber advantage impt again -Pocket is down, will the roaming replace the pocket? Or should I retreat and wait for the pocket? to be honest, it depends on the situation. sometimes i would stick to the demoman first if he is not going offensive. sometimes if the roamer decides that him doing his job at the moment is too risky, stick to him. it is hard to explain really. basically you have to heal from the safest distance away from the front line. -What constitutes as too "aggressive", and how do I get out of this bad habit? aggressive to me = going combat medic when your teammates are alive and around you. going combat medic when you're the last one alive and there's a possibility of escaping. moving in front of your heal target when you should let them tank for you/check the front line for you. how to get out of this? keep reminding yourself. your safety is the most important. if and only if you know you're screwed, then go all guns blazing. -In large open areas, e.g Badlands mid and badlands greybridge, what is the usual order of business? Especially if the pocket and the roaming have gone up to cap the spire, where do I go? imo, go along the safest path. badlands mid, stick behind the train thingy and heal everyone. push with the team when they're pushing. avoid spam and dodge. badlands greybridge, i usually avoid this path unless i know the front is totally clear if on offensive. if on defensive, avoid standing around that area. prone to backstabs. badlands spire, if both sollies are capping, i'll run along the bottom of the spire at the corner so that both sollies can give height coverage and wait for them to cap. -Aggro players, stick with or ditch? ditch like a boss unless you're at a total advantage -During rollout, how do you get to healing people on time when they launch themselves too far off to heal? Heal to full health, or buff? Who to heal, who to buff? if the people you intend to heal in your order goes too far, go down the next healing priority till you meet up with him again. best case scenario is if the sollies/demos reaches mid with some buff. full buff for all 3 are usually a rarity. spread the love and ensure everyone is adequately buffed (not necessarily to full). this is in the case that your solly/demo is your main force in your rollout. if your scouts are involved in flanking greatly, take a bit of time to buff your scouts a little. but don't forget your demoman no matter what

    AFA Announcement

The AsiaFortress Academy has ended, albeit prematurely. The participation and response to the AFA has been overwhelmingly positive. We saw the introduction of many new faces in the competitive scene. Yes, we (the community) have had our fair share of issues, but judging from the numbers alone, we can term this event as a success. The event sparked many debates and discussions about the current state of things, which goes to show that the majority of the community out there do CARE after all and are desperate for a "good" change/reform. We may decide to hold AFA as a series of events or run a different set of events involving all the players so that everyone can have fun, however we're still planning it out, so stay tuned! In the mean time, the new players should take a leap of faith and join the PUG with all the better players! Adjust and get to learn even more things from them! Or you could stick out with the players of similiar play levels at the agentcy's beginner server! The current list of pick-up game (PUG) servers can be seen here as follow: Agentcy 103.1.152.28:27015 (Beginner Friendly Server!) - password afapug 103.1.152.28:27016 - password sigmapug Eclub 203.116.80.197:27018 - password eclubmatch nnnta has fired up a test public server too. Please get your friends to join in and thoroughly rape the server. If it holds up, then we can host our very own pug server along with another server for events. Give it a go today! Add the server to your favourites! bakemono.servegame.org (currently 24 player server and running golddust4ever) If there are any issues with the test server, just drop a message down below!

    AFA4EVER

Emir, it's great that you took AFA and made it to what it was. Seriously good job. I personally appreciate that But those "reminders" were in hope that you would know what had to be covered and if not, could be discussed there. However you said, "chill bra, I've got it covered." which I then, left you alone to handle AFA cause I trusted that you could do it. But apparently now it is made known that I didn't do much except "remind" you over something and helped you with the googledoc when you were obviously preoccupied with other important stuff so that you could do team allocation and all with it which was kind of planned initially. This is after that the "I got it covered" bit. But that aside, great work on the whole event again, especially with all the last minute hiccups. And also to Agent K for generously providing his servers for the former AFA pug server (current FFA PUG)and the current Sigma PUG server. And all the mentors as well who provided for the newbs as well as the newbs as well who participated and hopefully had learn the basics ofcompetiive tf2.

    AFA4EVER

Let me clarify with you mr. K. You have no idea what's going on in the private admin forums. I've asked emir, who was planning the event whether he had all those covered, which he said he did. Don't accuse me of not covering all these with him when you too know nothing. If you would like a copy of that thread, feel free to ask me. Secondly, yes you may run the servers for this "event" and the people are grateful but none of you ever announced such an arrangement publicly, how would people know it would be a one day off event when it was planned for a long term basis. Worse is the asiafortress.com staff were never updated. Why so? Look at all the promos for afa on the website, it all referred that this will be a long running event. Why are changes done without the public knowing? Is your arrangements with emir so secretive that none of you wanna update anyone about it publicly? That's is why the facts were never clarified. Lastly, the 2nd paragraph onwards is meant for the detractors mainly. Why take such offense? Besides, the goal was to school newbs in competitive tf2. How is that a slap to your face?

What you learn can be adapted into your own gameplay. Don't follow for the sake of following what your mentor tells you to do. Gotta modify those advices and mould it in your own skill set.

I think team dynamics is something you guys gotta figure out yourselves instead of being forced to. Basically, for the last 2 weeks you all have played and interacted with each other on mumble and ingame. Not only that, you guys also roughly know each other's skill level. With all these experiences, one or two of you can decide to pick up like minded individuals which will definitely help in making a good scrim team. Forcing people might end up causing more trouble than help IMO.

    AFA pugs

Well, I guess this is the part where the admins have to step in to slap some wrist. I understand that the aim is to get the new blood to be self-sufficient, but you gotta hold their hands first to get them going. A warning system could be implemented for off-classing if this happens more often, like a 3 strike system or you'll receive a few days ban/a week/2 weeks etc. But its too early to implement that now, probably some time down the road. Also understandably, is that the admins themselves are overwhelmed with RL or requests and are unable to deal with these issues. Well, that's what happens when there's only a few admins around to deal with it I guess? So yea, whether you like it or not, the admins gotta be pretty active for the first few weeks to iron out any of these underlying issues. I'm quite sure the new blood will get more serious as the time passes as the "fun" ones leave and the "serious" ones remains. Anyway, the aim of AFA is to get the new blood introduced to PUGS so if the "fun" one can't deal with it, it is just not meant to be for them.

Alrighty, for the lazy people again who doesn't like to find threads. http://asiafortress.com/thread-1763.html This links contain the rules modified previously from the e-club pug servers' rules to suit more unlockables used across some of the other TF2 communities. Please do read and understand what has changed. This applies currently to the Agentcy servers. Spread the word now.

lol anyway, if you have any problems on the pug servers run by the agentcy, you could always add them up on steam friends or pm them via the asiafortress academy steam chat to ask for help.

    AFA pugs

I should point out that admins will only answer to questions pertaining to Asiafortress or Asiafortress Academy that has yet to be covered in the FAQs/queries/forum in general. Server issues? Kindly contact the relevant server admins (i.e. the people who run the server, not the people who assist with the map change etc.) who in this case are Agent K for the AFA pug server and e-Club Malaysia for the public servers or servers under e-Club jurisdiction. Tech issues regarding TF2 or your computer or mumble? Google your solutions or post a tech ticket at either Steam or the mumble sourceforge page or some computer tech websites. Also, try to figure out things yourself as there's quite a plethora of information on this forum regarding Asiafortress or AFA. Anything that doesn't require an admin's response (i.e. non urgent queries), you can direct them to the respective threads here or create a thread here yourself for discussion.

    AFA pugs

Its not about you being chosen last while you went to alt-tab to change mumble channel that might have caused them to kick you. It could be just that they are already impatient and want some action, that's why they requested a quick kick. Regardless, communication between the puggers should be there so as to prevent such cases from happening.

    AFA pugs

    1) Shoulda done a allchat instead of team chat. 2) Your team mates weren't very useful in passing down a message. 3) Admins shoulda confirmed whether or not you were indeed afk for long time instead of just kicking. Conclusion: If you wanna pass a message, tell everyone. Everyone's getting impatient, therefore kicking was the instant result everyone wants. To other puggers, please be patient and ensure that the person is indeed afk without reason (i.e. didn't tell teammates he went for a piss or whatever). You want a civil game? Be civil and check wassup with the person.

    Post masters cup teams discussion

Just curious, how many of the teams will continue on scrimming if there were to be a new season of AFL? How many of the new puggers are feeling adventurous in forming your own teams for scrims and potentially, your own AFL division? Discuss. Your posts will decide how the new season will be like. Let us know and please be civil about it.
