emir 10 Report post Posted July 25, 2011 Last night saw the exciting conclusion of Asiafortress' Merc Cup 2, with Choice and dizziness slugging it out over 2 sets and 5 maps in one of the most exciting match ups we've seen in a very long time. Here's a quick summary: The match kicked off on cp_obscure, and dizziness easily took the map 5-0. Choice responded by turning the tables on cp_granary, taking the map cleanly with a scoreline of 5-0. Our casters were pretty damn hyped by this time, as xvo showed his true prowess as a demoman on a map he was more familiar with. Choice then looked set to take cp_badlands, going 3-1 in the first 10 minutes. dizziness fought back hard and swung things in their favour 4-3 with 2 minutes to spare, and successfully held last cap to take the first set 2 maps to 1. This then forced a second set, since dizziness came from the lower brackets (due to the double elimination format). Things really came down to the wire on cp_gullywash, with dizziness tying the round in the last minute and forcing a golden cap, which Choice took to win 5-4 on cp_gullywash. Choice then went on to take cp_granary 5-2, being notoriously strong on that map; with that, Choice are crowned Champions of Merc Cup 2! 1st Place: Choice 2nd Place: dizziness 3rd Place: elysium-cell TF2 Congratulations to Choice! Having beaten dizziness in the nail-biting final, Choice walk away with the pool of 18 reclaimed metal. MVPs for the match are definitely xvo and PEANUT from Choice, who made our casters wet themselves with excitement everytime they did something spectacular, particularly on cp_granary. Special mention must go to our casters spammah and yukari, for helping our viewers keep track of the game, and analysing almost every frickin thing that happens. It's amazing how they kept their spirits up and had so much energy throughout almost 3 hours of casting, entertaining almost 80 viewers who were watching the stream. Definitely a standard to follow for subsequent match casts! Last but not least, Asiafortress would like to thank everyone who has helped make this event a success; this includes admins, team captains, players, casters, and all our viewers.
