RemiX's tf2 Movie cfg +hud and guide

Recommended Posts

For those who cannot manage to run pldx tool due to less monitor res lesser than 1280 X 720 (like me )this is a tool you can check out....

http://forums.tf2maps.net/showthread.php?t=11682

download all the files place them in tf/cfg folder and modify a few settings in the remix movie cfg basically the multi-core processing and stuff...

Every time you start make you sure if you have a scripts folder in tf you make a backup of it and replace the scripts files with the ones in the tf movie scripts folder in tf/cfg and if any command in autoexec ... just copy and put it into a new text document or just remove the exec from the folder after you have done that put a -autoconfig in the tf2 set launch options run the game might be a bit slow due to -autoconfig. Now type "exec movie" (without quotes) in console and you should see a big menu in console now load your demo... look for the tick and select a fps to record with generally 240 looks very good.. now if you want to record the files to avi's then press f5 or if you want to record them to tga's then press f6 to stop press f8, it might look buggy and slow without sound dont worry its normal if you use avi you cant record footage more than 2gb (remember the files are uncompressed so the file size is big) if you record them to tga's you can record long streaks and kills which most of the people prefer to use) ,after you've recorded the tgas you need virtual dub. Remember to put your tf2 scripts and autoexec back to work and remove the -autoconfig...

http://virtualdub.sourceforge.net/ now you can convert the screenshots to a video... put the same fps in the frame rate option and select a codec i prefer lagarith lossless codec... and select the audio file and as you have a monitor with resolution less than 1280X720 youtube would put black borders so just go to video options > filters > add re size > change the aspect ratio to custom and make it 16:9 and select the resolution as 1280 and let it calculate the other one. After that you need to put 1280 and 720 in letterbox and crop option just below and hit okay and then add the filter and save it to avi.

here is a test http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBVRj_YHHuU i know the audio is low just turn up the vol.. too lazy to re upload :<

everytime i try recording the demo it is either laggy or something wrong' date=' eh do u use full graphics and dx98?

[/quote']

You might need to put -autoconfig in set launch options try that

um if you are recording it then it will look slow because it is taking screenshots every second eg. if you are recording at 240 fps it takes 240 screenshots every second

so it is slow 240 is huge right and you might not hear anything

after you render it out in vdub the clip might be laggy because of the filezie

after you render the clip out in sony vegas or something it should be fine

and if you have recorded it into direct avi and if the file size is more than 2 gb the file will be corrupt definetly.. so use tgas convert into movie in vdub use sony vegas to render it out

I USE THE LAGARITH lossless codec try googling it...

i dont really see the point of recording in 240 if youre not going to supersample it for extreme motion blur or you're planning to have some greenscreen/chromakey areas that need to be slowed down to 1/8x speed (given you're rendering at 30fps? seems sensible)

you would generally record the frames at 90, encode in vdub at 30 and fix the timescale by shortening the clip to the size of the .wav file in vegas. it's not rocket science.

note that using colour correction as hideous as that will probably double your render time.

for something like this (in amazing 1080p):

-set your resolution to whatever the fuck you want to record in (1080p or 720p is recommended but i've also recorded at my game res 1920*960 or my native res 1900*1200 and it looks fine.

-make tf2 look all pretty like. most spastic movie makers will tell you that you need a config for this with a hundred idiotic graphics settings. what i've discovered is that the only settings that make a gargantuan difference in your output quality are the settings you can change in your video options (hint: change them to max to make it look pretty)

-delete all your horse porn so you have a decent amount of hard drive space

-open a demo

-go to your shit frag at tick x that you want to make into a s1ck fr4g v1d

-startmovie (x)

-> the x denotes the framerate and for christ's sake you spastics it's basic math. vegas will allow you to render in any framerate you want, but it's best to capture raw footage at an integer factor of what you will decide to render at. for example, if you're rendering at 50fps, you'll want to capture at 100 or 150 or 200 because any of those numbers divided by 50 is an integer and that makes it simpler to encode.

-once you're done capturing your ~s1ck fr4g m0m3nt~ open the frames in virtualdub (megui causes cancer, avoid)

-go to video -> compression and pick lagarith lossless codec. if you have 85 1tb drives in raid 69 you could probably go uncompressed, but any other codec is a waste of time at this point

-go to video -> framerate and set it to the framerate you want to render in

-save it as a raw avi

-open the raw avi in vegas

-put some shit music on it, sync with some garbage frags, edit it, whatever

-go to file-> render as and pick your codec. i suggest h.264 or xvid, as it makes things look pretty.

-render (at the same framerate you encoded in obviously)

-put your shit video up on youtube and get laughed at

it's quite simple. i don't understand why people have to overcomplicate it. the pldx thing is utter garbage btw.
