To start off with, we have the fabulous Caldoran joining us, as we head our future Highlander operations. He’s going to be a great addition to the AsiaFortress Team! Secondly, as all of you seem to have been listening to a certain Scorpions song, we’ve got a big change for you. We are removing ALL off-class rules from all 6v6 servers. This includes the team-mate rule as it is prone to abuse and is as arbitrary as the other two. As our admins will have a lot more free time on their hands with this move, we will be focusing our efforts on players with bad attitudes. Happy creativity-induced off-classing! Remember, do what is ‘logical’ and in ‘good spirit’! Anyways, the rest of this article is devoted to our AsiaFortress MASHED potatoes! So you wanna know which team you’re in? HA. Here’s the schedule!! All jokes aside, make sure you read everything in this article. I have little tolerance for those who choose to skim. As many of you will remember, the tournament will be run in a Round Robin style. What that means is that every team will play each other, and you’re all going to have SORE BUTTS by the end of this! Surprisingly we have actually grown in participation. Thanks to SPAMMAH and those BEAUTIFUL, HANDSOME DEVILS over at Valve who have featured us on the teamfortress.com website! Thanks! Apologies to those who aren’t in Asia, but who wanted to participate! We didn’t expect such the much-appreciated attention. Next time perhaps! Here is a list of things that you must must must remember! For everyone: Remember the game starts at approximately 1:30 PM, and matches after that will have very strict timings so we don’t go on for too long. So check in at around 1:10, or 12:00 PM and make sure there’s ample time to deal with issues that may arise. Make sure you’re in the whitelist! Contact Shounic to get invited! If you're in the 'asiafortress pug' group you're fine! There is a 10 minute break between every game, so you can go piss and all that, just make sure you don’t take too long! Each delay will have a domino effect on subsequent games and cause everything to be delayed, so for the sake of everyone having a good time, DON’T TAKE TOO LONG! There is also a 15 minute break in the middle of the tournament so you can go walk about and have a stretch. Please make sure to check in with us when you’re ready! Check below, if you don’t know how to check-in. I will also have a checklist in the document linked above. This is for my convenience, so that I can quickly grab subs for no-shows at the last minute. I will also explain how to register yourself as a sub below. Nevertheless, please have the decency to show up on time. If not, you can help by getting a sub for yourself, etc. If you haven’t signed up, but still want to play, you can come join us in the group chat and declare yourself as a standby sub. Standby subs will be called upon when something crazy happens, like mentioned in the next paragraph. Please refrain from messaging me when I’m playing unless it’s extremely urgent. Like if someone has crashed or their internet died and you don’t know what to do. Otherwise, feel free to contact me if anything goes wrong, or if you need help; things must go smoothly! For the Mentors! You are responsible for getting your team smoothly from one server to the next! Keep track of your players and make sure you tell your teammates when you gotta B - R - B! At the same time, teammates please try your best to make the lives of our mentors as easy as possible; they are volunteering their time to teach and have fun with you! Make sure, somehow, that the results get posted! Settle it before you all run off for the 10 mins break and forget it! It could be the mentor, it could be the guy everyone hates - it doesn’t matter! It looks really good. But I personally don't enjoy the sharp blue / red. Do you mind, when releasing the HUD make it easier to modify colors? Or you could try a few others and post screenshots. I personally want the colors more slate.

The offclass guidelines were guidelines regulating offclassing - No offclassing beyond 33% of the time of the game, no unnecessary offclassing, & you cannot offclass if your teammates object.

The others have been quite busy, namely spammah and Natapon busy handling setting up servers for other regions and the recent server maintenance. Natapon also upgraded the server hardware RAM yesterday. Andrew has been revising for his major exam, and fuzz is waiting to post a wall of text as usual.

Well I can speak for myself when it comes to the issue of transparency. I've started posting those Admin Updates for the sake of that, letting people know what we're doing. It's just that we prefer to pile things up so we make one big post instead of many smaller ones. Of course if you want many smaller ones, we can change that.

While the rest of the admins are still reading, I want to say regardless of your opinion, showing your opinion to us matters. Thanks to everyone who has typed us a wall!

You should all remember that while we do accept complaints from 'enemy teams', it doesn't necessarily mean that it will pass our bullshit filter and we will ban. We review every ban carefully.

For future reference, we permaban anything by default, and an appeal is needed before we reduce the bans. Considering it's your first mistake I will reduce it to one day.

I am not speaking for the entire Admin Team, but whether or not the bans were justified or not, Sorry. As I have pointed out before, we ban at our own discretion, but we only do what we feel is appropriate. But the past is the past and we can only improve our policies in the future. About previous bans by Natapon, I cannot be responsible for his decisions. He felt it was appropriate, and he took action. Natapon has been more careful about banning people as of late, so I assume he has learnt his lessons. Although I have to say sorry to the those who have been unfairly banned in the past. About my ban on Huggable - I have agreed to reduce his ban to one day when he appeals. The reason I don't completely unban him is because he is still responsible for his mistake. You are responsible for checking the time before you join a pug, or at least ensuring you can find a sub before you leave the pug. There are of course things we consider such as 'I wasn't made aware of the time I had to leave previously' or 'my whatever crashed' which is out of your control. We enforce these rules to hopefully have a better pug environment for everyone. I agree that it was unfortunate there was no specs, but he has mentioned it was his brother's wedding. Should you not be clear on what time that is? He has to be responsible for his own actions, and as a result, punishment. The guidelines were made by Fuzz were meant to be a method of judgement for the Admins. We thought that it would be in the best interest of the community if we made it public, so people could understand some of our decisions. It has personally been useful for checking however long someone has been playing a certain class when someone mentions it. I only do this to get a general idea of the situation. We don't count the time either. No, we don't consider PUGs scrims, but this is what we've interpreted from the debates on the forums. We can only conveniently take input from the forums, and whether it is the community being vague or the admins misinterpreting a message, we still only have the goal of improving AsiaFortress for everyone.

I don't want to take away from either fuzz or teal's arguments, but to be fair - this was our attempt at tackling the issue of excessive off-classing that has been extensively debated about in that other thread. So.... then what does the community want? In that other thread I've suggested we settle the issue by taking it case by case, and that's what we're doing now. Every ban is done at the discretion at the admin and mistakes will happen, we're sorry. The reason Fuzz is taking stats from i49 is because there was a cry for simple clear cut rules, and to be fair it does work to an extent. We recognize there are other problems that plague PUGs, but off-classing was the issue the community has shown the most dislike for. If you think there needs to be more moderation of people's behavior then speak up. We as admins do not decide for the community. These forums are for the community to tell us what they want. You know most of us admins check the forums regularly and we handle ban / unban requests to the best of our abilities. Make suggestions to us, talk to us!
