    AFL2 Tournament Server List

Yes sam. Please do that. It doesn't take much effort to install CFGs and the required maps. All you need to do is spend an hour or so testing the server FPS and performance.
  2. ADMINS: We'll go with as many capable admins as we can get since we'll need many volunteers for all the sorts of tasks that we're going to do. Since teams will be scheduling the matches between themselves and regulating the AFL2 rules themselves by recording POV & SRCTV demos, admins will have a lot of work cut out for them. TOURNAMENT FORMAT: - http://asiafortress.com/thread-9.html A) Double Elimination Round Robin Single Group C) Round Robin 2 Divisions D) Swiss-system format I personally suggest Round Robin Single Group since everyone gets to play everyone. A) Double Elimination Teams (unseeded) are randomly thrown into double elimination brackets with maps chosen by the teams themselves with a bit of admin intervention and progress until the end. This format takes the least time but can lead to highly unfair matches etc. Round Robin Single Group All teams are thrown into ONE SINGLE GROUP where every team plays each other in a league-style format with Rounds Won/Lost/Drawn being taken into account. Maps will have to be decided by teams (or possibly admins). Possibly 2 maps for each match. Top X teams then proceed to Double Elimination or Knockout format (Best of there or five) where they proceed until the end. This format takes the most amount of dedication and ample amount of time (still doable IMHO.). C) Round Robin 2 Divisions Teams are randomly thrown into two groups (A & where they play each other in their relative group. Top X teams from Group A and Group B advance to Playoffs (Double Elimination or Knockout Style format) with best of three or five maps until the end. This format sits in the middle of A) and as far as time is concerned. However, it's still segregated. Teams will only get to play about 3/4th of all the other teams in the whole tournament. D) Basically, this system is a mix between the single-elimination format and round robin. It allows a clear winner to be determined in the least number of rounds which would be ideal for AFL2 if theres an overwhelming number of teams. Since spammah personally prefers round robin single group, this is probably be the format that will save the most time and be fair to all teams. There is a "rating" system of how well the teams fare which can go like +0 for a lose, +1 for a draw, +2 or +3 for a win (this can be changed to suit the tournament). The first round of pairings either goes by random or some method that allows teams of similiar standards to be paired with each other. In the subsequent rounds, teams are paired with other teams which have the similiar "rating". (as shown in wikipedia article). There are other advantages too, no one in the tournament needs to be eliminated and each team proceeds to the next round even if they win, draw or lose. Since it is similiar to round robin, each team will have a final rating that can show the relative strength of the teams. A strong team which loses early in double/single elimination format to stronger teams may have a very low rank in that format, but in Swiss pairings, a strong team in the same situation can go on to be a finalist of a higher rank that is more accurate in comparing the relative strength of teams. Assuming that AFL2 has 16 teams. If there are no draws allowed, it takes only 4 rounds to have one team with a perfect final standing of 4 wins, 0 lose. If draws are allowed, there will be 5 rounds to determine the final champion. Since there will more teams with similiar scores in the middle, tie breaking methods can be used to give a more accurate relative rank if needed. Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swiss-system_tournament Detailed stuff: http://scichess.org/faq/swiss.html COVERAGE: I want POV demos (compulsory), SRCTV demos (strongly recommended but not compulsory). As absurd as it may have sounded in the Mumble orgy, I'd still personally like people with Western accents to commentate some of the matches for us in SRCTV and/or dedicated audio stream. If not, then locals commentating the matches are fine too. PRIZES: I'll have a talk with some of the gaming companies etc. and see if they'd be interested in sponsoring prizes for the Top 5 ranked teams in the tournament. SERVERS: * StarHub servers with stock maps are good to go. Servers might support non-stock competition maps if they're used by 80% of all the TF2 leagues in the world. * eClub contributor needs some time to decide whether he'll support AFL with servers. * Gamesync/SGWargames will have a chat to see if more servers could be sponsored. Currently have only one Gamesync.NET TF2 server. * Fragnetics head will be approached soon to see if he's interested in sponsoring some servers for the duration of the tournament. * Foreign servers are available but we will still need to keep up-to-date and in touch with those server admins to ensure their servers have the latest CFGs/maps etc. TOURNAMENT DURATION: This will be depending on the tournament format used. Since I personally recommended Round Robin Single Group, I'd set this to finish with a strict albeit slight extension of 2 months + 15 days. Which translates to about 2 games a week or so. FOREIGN TEAMS/NON-ENGLISH SPEAKING TEAMS: Some of the community + admins' help would be greatly appreciated in tracking these teams and ensure their tournament registration. First priority is to explain about the tournament formats as thoroughly as possible. CLAN LEADERS: Apart from a public poll regarding tournament format and other things, there will also be a private poll where only clan leaders can vote for tournament format and other things since these teams will be the actual ones participating in the tournament.

Since the Swiss-system looks like another viable option, I will add it and restart the poll.

    AFL2 Tournament Server List

Interesting food for thought. Please check with face/makuju etc. to test their servers thoroughly for higher optimizations. If nothing else can be done, we'll just roll with those servers.

    HAPPY FUN FUN ADVENTURE CLUB

Hi. I would like to post my awesome albeit belated application to join your highly famed and prestigious club. This ebullient atmosphere is in perfect compatibility with my fantasies of four-legged animal thick veiny appendages and I hope to, one day, stumble upon the secret and divine speed ratio at which the fabulous white stuff splatters all over my face.

    TF2 Pyro Fan Art

Might find some way to include this in the AsiaFortress site somehow.
  12. bright accidentally my post and doesn't afraid of anything.
  13. ROFL, don't get me wrong. I love you guys' signatures. Nemes|s, bright, mut. etc. but I am disabling images in signatures for the time being. They are seriously breaking the reading flow. I'll re-enable them once we fix some limits or I find better ways to include some seksy siggy additions.
  14. Changed forum font to a slightly darker blue with font-weight "bold" enabled. Any good? Do a CTRL+F5 if you don't see the changes.
  15. If you're the same Brandon in mumble, Steam etc. and are still interested on being an admin, hit me up.
  16. Thanks, msc. Nemes|s, your sig..... is.... mesmerizing..... :-|. There are a still a lot of tiny changes I need to make so you'll see things changing randomly the whole day. I also need suggestions for a font color for the thread links. The light blue is quite blinding. Unless you want me to darken it a little or bolden it. Throw your suggestions in here. I'm renaming this thread to the Suggestions thread. Please get the word out of the new site to all the Asian teams! Unfortunately they will have to register forum accounts again but it will be the last time. I need all the clan leaders and country representatives to PM me or msg me in Steam chat so I can fix up your forum privileges.
  17. It wasn't removed. We did a final forum installation. All ready to go now.
