    !RECAPS OF 2013 / HAPPY 2014!

Happy New Year! Selamat Tahun Baru! 新年快樂! 明けましておめでとうございます! 새해 복 많이 받으세요! سنة سعيدة! 2013 was a fantastic year for Asiafortress, here's a recap on the craziness that has happened over the past year! Starting off the year with Mercenaries Cup 4, we saw intense competitions amongst all the teams who participated, all vying to grab onto that first place trophy. Halfway through the season, we had our local derby where Secrets.tf2 and All Stars struggled against each other. The evenly matched teams had many close matches, but All Stars emerged victorious against Secrets.tf2 with Summer's glorious moment as scout carrying his team during the Golden Cap round. However, the limelight shines on the last two teams standing for Mercenaries Cup 4 - Muk Eun Ji from Korea and Green Leaves from Japan!! After numerous neck-to-neck games and clutch plays from both teams, Muk Eun Ji triumphed over Green Leaves to claim the title of Mercenaries Cup 4 Champion. HURRAY TO THE ANCIENT KIMCHI! \O/ Fast forward to the middle of the year, we also held the seventh iteration of our flagship tournament, the AsiaFortress Cup! Blood and tears were shed as the competitors all fought tooth and nail for the title of AsiaFortress Cup Champions in their respective divisions, with Kuso Scout in Division 1, ColorGaming in Division 2 and Azure Celista in Division 3 emerging on top at the end. We had such a huge response from the community watching the match, and we even had coverage by Teamfortress.TV!! BIGGEST shoutout to our casters, Admirable from VanillaTV and Yuki from Ozfortress! Hold your horses, it doesn’t stop there! AsiaFortress was not even close to being ready to settle down. We expanded into Hong Kong, exporting a bunch of servers out across the skies thus creating Asiafortress.com HK. These servers helped us reach out to our families in Japan and Korea! In addition to that, Spammah has used bleeding edge sand server hosting technology to bring competitive TF2 to the Arabs, while Natapon has provided them with the same plugin you see in AsiaFortress servers to help streamline their games, bringing AE (Asiafortress/MiddleEastFortress) to the surface. Our website also got a much deserved makeover! Big thanks to those who contributed, it looks lovely (: We did not just expand into other territories like the Spanish did, our own AsiaFortress Administration Team grew too! With new additions to the team, we hope to bring you a pleasant TF2 experience and a better community for years ahead! We ended December off with A BIG MASH - the greatest marathon of nerdgasm ever, the AsiaFortress Mashed Potatoes Food Fight! This was a fresh idea that we had and it worked surprisingly well! Ten teams went head to head in a Round Robin format to secure the title of Asiafortress first ever mashheads. After seven grueling hours of doing the “dance of the keyboard people” aka WASD, Team Rage A Lot emerged as Asiafortress' FIRST EVER MASHED POTATO CHAMPIONS! We are kicking off the New Year with a map vote thread for the maps that you’d like to see in the Highlander servers! Check it out here! Don’t like the maps you see? Think ctf_doublecross would be a great addition? Nominate for new maps here!

  7. don't always expect the old players / veterans to approach you, the younglings themselves must take the initiative to talk them. I know people rage, who doesn't? don't distant yourself just because the person is an oldie, or an admin or whatever, everyone is the same. the idea of this place is to communicate with the community.
  8. shounic still nibbles, so beware.
  9. we actually had this rule, a year before, "no mumble no pug" it worked for a while, but I guess the inconsistency of people keeping it up and people actually bother being in mumble, (I don't understand why not because mumble is so easy to use) kinda killed the entire thing and it slowly died down. I also think the problem was also because if you are unlucky, you will always end up in a channel where the vets are raging at the new players for not doing it right, and blame the entire 30 mins on him. people do bother giving calls, but people just don't bother being in mumble, and if they are in mumble, they are in their own channel. I love you deep deep. stay in here <3

Admin Updates, New Rules & MASH!

I HAD TONS OF FUN, with random people in my team, but the whole entire event was kinda messy tbh.
  14. a change is a change, but do not make changes for the sake of change.
  15. I feel there is no fun in Asiafortress, the gap between the new and the old, there's no friendliness between them, the new ones are too scared, the old ones are too angry. there were so many times people asked me "can you help ask nata to unbanned me?" and when I asked them to tell him yourself, they go "I'm scared to approach him, you know him better, can you help me?" seriously, like as if I'm the community page, and I can't do anything either because I can't speak for them, it's not my responsibility to. they are scared to approach because oldies seems too unfriendly, I guess I understand how they feel as well but it's your fault because if you don't take the time to get to know them at all, what makes you think you can judge them. I personally think it's stagnant, it's neither going up or going down. It needs staff but the right staff. It's growing, yes I'm glad about that, but if people can't reach you, then they are going to run away again. stagnant in skill wise, because oldies can't be bothered to train and newbies don't wanna listen to the oldies. it's like what's the point of saying "mentor me" but at the end of the day, you don't come back to them to get mentored. it's your initiative, not theirs, they know their shit, you don't. thus now, pugs are just... organized 6's pub, but it's also funny how those new people turned into ragey and arrogant sons of bitches with an ego the height of burj khalifa and they forgot who they were once they get better. I guess, admins have to be transparent to a certain extent so that people can approach you. so many times people complain to me (I HAVE NO FUCKING IDEA WHY THEY HAVE TO COME FOR ME FOR THIS) "just because they are admins, we must filter our words? we can't be ourselves and we must put them on a pedestal?" I guess I know why we have this issue. I'm not saying that you should lower your standards, its just that; I hope you guys know what are the reason or have a good enough reason why such actions are taken. as I quote someone "admins now just want people to suck their dick". you asked for opinions, but you don't listen to them. when I was new, I like Asiafortress, I guess I was lucky that I entered during a time where I could still feel the feeling of playing with the oldies right before they decided to leave/quit/retired/get married.. whatever. I came everyday to pug, doesn't matter if I did good or bad, if I was gonna get scolded or not and god people were so ragey, but I guess because I had the drive to do better, I came anyway, and it wasn't cheap; because I had no computer at home, I had to go to a lan shop that cost $1.70 per hour, and I played for 5 hours straight on weekdays and 7 - 9 hrs every weekend. I like AF and I was glad I grew up here, so to see so much happening and listening to so much new people complaining and running away after a day or two at AF, makes me ask this qn, "whose fault is it?" we can't really blame anyone. the newbies wants to get spoonfed. once they get scolded, they run away, then after, complain to me why they are not good enough or the community is too ragey, "MAYBE when I come back when I get better" and I never heard from them since or see them in AF pugs. the oldies are just ragey, no patience at all. they expect everyone to know everything in just one day. "go back to AFA". it's hard to filter between the two, the ones who wants to get better, and the ones who are just there to make your lives miserable, but don't close all doors, to those who put in effort, because goddamit these are the people who are going to bring up your community, the very community you built and hope to be something more. amongst the five, three are willing to learn and to those three, chase your mentors instead of wanting to be chased. and puzzled said, we have soccer, barbeque, outings, etc.. come down, meet the people, it's not only for the oldies, especially the barbeque, we posts them publicly so that new member/players can come down, gather and get to know each other. it's a community thing. don't be scared. get drunk. confess your love to someone. have a laugh. play street fighter and get trash. who the hell cares. and lastly, cu@LAN bitches.

    TF2 LAN COMPETITION POLL

okay, so after heated conversation between a few of us, we decided that maybe we hold a TF2 LAN COMPETITION. so before I begin on doing anything further.. I need to run a poll for all you lovely people to know how many people are actually interested in lan. it will be in singapore, and all of you, regardless of age are most welcome to participate. organizing this is also for the young boys and girls to experience the LAN experience that you probably never had one before. so, I really do hope you guys can participate and make it happen for asiafortress because we are bunch of very bored adults.
