you can create your own channel. when you're connected to irc, try /join # to create one. If no one occupy the channel, you can register it as your own.

It's a chat protocol like MSN/Steam chat except easier, more people and more things to do. OZ pug are conducted through mIRC, you and your friends can join in if you want. Malaysians get pretty good ping on the pug server.
