Cataclysmic starts off with the usual roll-out. 2S-2S-1M-1D. Pnoid opts to roll with an interesting lineup of 1S-1SP-1H-1M-1S-1D. Now, in theory and in all common sense, Cata should not have much issues capping mid point against Pnoid's sorta "weak" class roll-out, right? WRONG.

 

The game goes into lots and loooots of even trades for about 10-15 mins. Most of the action is focused and centered on the mid CP. By the 20th minute mark, the combination of MiHo and Godo prove to be an extremely annoying and frustrating pair. After a while, Cata toshihiko chooses to go sniper and proves himself a worthy contender as a good sniper with some good shots on enemy scouts, sollies. tshk and Miho face off against each other in a snipers' duel, Miho comes out on top mostly with 10 hp or so everytime.

 

Due to tshk going sniper, Cata are down a scout and Cata rze is the man to take up the task of scout all by himself. However, rze seems to have a huge lack of aim and doesn't really do much at all for much of the game. His scores at the end of the map prove this too. Not being able to hit much after a few mins, tshk is forced to switch back to scout and help rze but the Cata scout pair fail to do anything scout-worthy.

 

Somewhere around the 20th minute mark...

 

Cata finally do something and press with their class advantage and cap mid, 4th and last CPs. 1-0 Cata

 

Pnoid continues to run the same class rollouts AGAIN. This time Miho as sniper headshots the shit out of everything in mid. Pnoid cap mid and 4th but are unable to capitalize on the situation and make a decent push for last since they're STILL RUNNING A SNIPER AND HEAVY. Lord knows what happened here but Cata's scouts get picked off.

 

Pnoid push in and uber the heavy/solly. Cata counter-uber. Lots of jostling around and everyone blocking each other. Pnoid's Fatty McFat blocks Cata's medic/solly somehow. Something something something, Pnoid win the round. Score 1-1

 

At the 15 min mark

 

Scores still 1-1. Cata caps mid but drop their medic (w/ uber). Pnoid attempts several times to push out but are boxed in the 2nd CP. Finally, Pnoid has no choice, they proceed to uber the heavy/solly out of 2nd CP gates. Cata's holding the gates at close range.

 

Cata xotic does a BRILLIANT job by bombarding the ubered enemy forces with nades/stickies and knocks them back repeatedly to the gates thus saving his team players. Pnoid do a hasty retreat but not without casualties. They lose their medic, solly and heavy in the process. Cata makes a decent push capping 4th and last and win the round. 2-1.

 

10 minutes and counting...

 

Lots of yawn exchanges and yawn trade-offs. Cataclysmic hesitates a LOT even when they have uber advantage or advantage in numbers and this is vexing to me. Even after Cata would somehow wrest control of mid and win the 4th point. Cata would lose a soldier or medic would drop uber in the most lamest of ways. Pnoid's prcYn starts doing random scout "pug" rushes at top. He kills a sniper and a scout(or soldier) before finally being taken out. Bad exchanges overall for Cata. However, Pnoid falter with their inferior class line-up and Cata win the round. Time's up. Final Score Cata 3-1.

Cata rolls with 2S-2S-1D-1M. PNOID switches things up with 2S-1S-1H-1D-1M. I think Pnoid prcyN switched to a soldier this time and some other guy Pnoid played as demo.

 

First round ensues, Pnoid do a right ramp roll-out and prcyN dies REALLY early after failing all his rocketjumps like a fatty. HOWEVER, PNOID STILL MANAGE TO WIN MID. (WTF?) Cata's scouts get bumrushed and their sollies fall in the same way. Lots and loooots of mid/4th point fights. I was literally giggling throughout granary. Pnoid's medic and heavy would keep spamming radio commands (force of habit i'm told) and it was really funny listening to the heavy go "RATATATATATA BUTTATATA" and kill a few.

 

As Pnoid has a different demoman playing in this map, I think it made a huge difference. Pnoid's demo sticks with the heavy forces and together they deal out a crapload of damage almost always taking out Cata's soldier/scout pair. Effective.

 

So. This was the tale of granary. Lots of fights stretched out over several points. Pnoid wins 2-0. Nothing further to comment about. If you do happen to get your hands on the STV demo, watch Pnoid's Goto heavy play in granary. Cata's serious lack of scout aim and firepower cost them the game on a scout-dependant cp_granary.

 

Final score: Pnoid 2-0
