Recommended Posts

Rules will be pasted here when done. To be translated into Chinese Korean Japanese.

Will cover only general rules, not league specific (season/playoff/double-elim)

These rules will be the basis of all AFL 6 v 6 competition.

General Rules

OVERVIEW -

1. General Points

2. Players

3. Match Rules

4. Maps

5. Servers

6. Cheating and Scripts

Explanation “Map-Pick-Elimination System

General Points -

1.1 AFL Time zone = GMT+8

ALL AFL matches are to be scheduled using GMT+8 unless stated otherwise. Should a match timing be stated without timezone, it is to be assumed to be based on GMT+8. Else stated timezone will be used.

1.2 Matches must be scheduled in appropriate match thread

All matches are to be scheduled in the appropriate match thread. Only if a reply is entered on the match thread do you have the possibility to claim a Default Win.

1.3 Separate schedule & match deadline for every match – Default Date for unscheduled matches

Every match has its own schedule and match deadline.

If a match is not arranged by the schedule deadline, admins will decide a default match date. After that, a match date can only be changed if both teams agree on another date or if one team takes a wildcard.

1.4 Use the match comments to record agreements on mercs, servers and other cases

We encourage using the match comments to keep in touch with your opponent. Any agreement between two teams regarding the use of mercs or servers must be recorded on the relevant match page.

Players -

2.1 All players are welcome

Any player of any country is welcome to play in AFL events. But remember all matches have to be played on Asia located servers which may cause a ping disadvantage for such a player.

2.2 Only correctly entered players are allowed to play

You are only allowed to use players who have correctly entered their Steam ID and are verfied on their teams’ roster.

2.3 One team change per competition allowed

A player is allowed to do one team change during a competition. A player changing from a dead team doesn’t count as real change. A ‘team change’ counts as joining another team and playing a competitive match for that team.

2.4 Every player has to record Demos

Every player is supposed to record Demos of every map and keep them for at least 2 weeks. A player and his team who can’t manage to supply a requested demo will be punished.

2.5 Every player has to play with the nickname of the league site

You are supposed to play with the nickname you have chosen on Asiafortress league site.

2.6 Abusive chat, nicknames and avatars aren’t welcome

Try not to use the chat function during a match to comment on anything unless it’s in a positive manner. Chat abuse will be punished. Racist names and avatars will not be tolerated.

Match Rules -

3.1 League Config for all matches

All AFL matches have to be played with the updated version of our League Config [Link]. The config has to be loaded after every map change.

3.2 Status + Scoreboard screenshots have to be made

One representative of each team has to make a status screenshot before a match is starting and after every player switch. Also a scoreboard screenshot has to be made at the end of every map/round. All relevant screenshots have to be uploaded by one team leader when submitting the result.

3.3 Scheduled Match can only be postponed by contacting an admin if both teams agree

Once a game is scheduled in the match thread, it can only be postponed behind the match deadline if both teams agree. If both teams agree to the reschedule and want to postpone the match please contact an admin an explain the case.

3.3.1 Unforeseen Circumstances

If either teams has either team has any unforeseen circumstances which doesn’t enable them to play with full strength, they MUST talk to the other team’s captain to resolve another date (the most one week is given). If not they will either play with their problems or forfeit immediately.

3.3.2 Scheduling Failure

If either teams can’t schedule their matches due to non-compliance on their part, that specific team will forfeit. If both teams do not attempt to schedule their match, both teams will forfeit.

No postponement will be allowed UNLESS stated before the end of the match dateline. if so, the extra time given will be 1 week (excluding last week of game play)

3.4 Delay of 15 minutes is allowed

A delay of 15 minutes for showing up for a match is allowed. If a team fails to have a complete team ready on the server 15 minutes after the match was supposed to start, the other team has the possibility to claim a Default Win.

Additionally, after a map change the teams get 10 minutes to organize, starting when the first player joins the server. The same default win situation is in effect here, however only for the map concerned, not for the entire match.

For claiming a Default Win, please make a status screenshot of your team available on the server at match time, gather any evidence you think concludes the case (demos or server logs) and contact an admin about the issue as soon as possible.

3.5 No mercenaries (Substitute player) allowed unless your opponent agrees

You are not allowed to use a merc (player that is not on your lineup) at any time of a match unless your opponent agreed to it. If you do not have enough players for a scheduled match and want to use a merc then make sure you contact the opponent in time. If the opponent agrees (they do not have to) then make sure you write a log of the agreement in the match comments. All mercs have to be registered on AsiaFortress. Teams caught using an unauthorized merc will receive a default loss and a warning.

3.6 Player changes during a match

You can theoretically switch players after a map change (as long as they are entered correctly on your rosters’ page). A player change during a running map is only possible if a player has technical problems to play on.

3.7 Only authorized spectators allowed

No spectators are allowed unless they are authorized by the league or for the use of a Source TV.

3.8 Pause if players drop

Teams may request a pause at any time during a match. Reasons for pausing include:

- Player drop

- Server problems

- Your game is unplayable due to network issues

If you need to pause, you must clearly request a pause and give a reason for it (for example: “Pause please, player drop”). The other team is then, by rule, expected to pause at the first appropriate time in a sensible and sportsmanlike manner (e.g. not in the middle of a push). Teams will have to pause within 15 seconds of being asked. Not responding to a pause request will lead to penalties like a minor warning accompanied with the forfeit of the round in question, or, in extreme cases, a major warning and forfeit of the map. You may not unpause the game under any circumstances without giving proper warning to the other team. Each team has the right on one pause per map and a pause may not last longer than 5 minutes.

3.9 Point deduction after warnings

If you get enough warnings, points will be deducted from your team for the running season. Players/teams are allowed to report on any infractions done by any of the participating teams in AFL5. However, this must be done with evidence at hand (demos/VODs/chatlogs). Hearsay will not be considered. Admins will then decide and give the appropriate actions in terms of warnings, suspensions or bans.

Points will be deducted, and warnings applied as following:

General System

3 minor warnings = 1 major warning

1 major warning = deduction of 1 point / 10 points deduction on the ladder

3 major warnings = expulsion from the league

Minor warnings -

Wrong / missing screenshot (can be reverted if screenshots uploaded afterwards)

Using an unauthorized player

Unplayed match after match deadline

Use of non-english language (Note: You are allowed to use your foreign language if both teams are from the same country.)

Not being able to provide a requested Demo (1st time)

Flaming (1st time)

Not showing up for a match (+ Default Loss for this match)

Any other rule break (1st time)

Major warnings -

Any attempts of fraud

ANY form of racism against the opposing team

Not being able to provide a requested Demo (after 1st time)

Flaming (after 1st time)

Cheating (+ reduction of possible extra points and banning of the player involved, dependent on the situation)

Any other rule break (after 1st time)

ALL participating players are required to abide by these rules. Failure in doing so will result in disqualification of the said player and/or his team.

Maps -

4.1 Timelimit 30 for all non-Stopwatch-Maps

Timelimit 30 has to be used for all maps which are played with Stopwatch mode.

4.2 Winlimit 4 (BO5) on KOTH maps

King of the Hill maps will have to be played until one team reaches 4 round victories and wins. Timelimit is off for KOTH maps. Please change mp_timelimit to 0 on the server or use the stopwatch config. Change mp_winlimit to 4 to make the win trigger automatically.

4.3 Normal Map Overtime counts on all matches

A possible “normal” Map Overtime which is coming up if a team is capping a point at the end of a timelimit or if an intelligence is being captured counts and has to be played by both teams.

Servers -

5.1 Be sensible regarding servers

Both teams can agree on a server which both maps are played on, or agree to play one map on each clans’ server. If you can’t agree to play either way then the game must be played on an default league server (Garena or BFX taiwan).

Make sure the server is fine before you start the match. You can not fill a complaint after the match.

5.3 Server needs password protection

All servers used for AFL matches must be password protected.

5.4 Server needs AFL League Config

All servers used for AFL matches need to have the AFL League Config [Link] loaded after every map change.

5.5 Unusual server settings may classed as cheating

Servers with abnormal settings may be banned for matches by the league and/or be classed as cheating.

5.6 Right to fair-play

Both team must agree to a mutual server in which players of both teams get a playable ping (latency). If both teams can’t agree to a server, the tournament admins will make the decision

Note: For a full and comprehensive list of Asian competitive servers, please see this.

Cheating and Use of Scripts -

6.1 Exploiting is not allowed

Any kind of “Bug-exploiting” is not allowed. Player found exploiting or using bugs and/or glitches will be dealt with promptly.

6.2 Cheats are not allowed

Any kinds of cheats are not allowed. Player using cheats will be punished.

6.3 Normal Crouch Jump allowed

Executing the normal “crouch jump” by a binding is allowed.

6.4 Taunt Bug is forbidden

In a match it is forbidden to use a combination of Taunt and Jump or taunt while falling from ledges (as it hurts the accuracy of hitboxes).

6.5 Addendum

For any scripts not mentioned here, you can use as general rule of thumb: anything that allows you to do something that would be impossible without that script is forbidden. (ie demoman charge turn script)

When in doubt, the admins decide on the legality of the script.

Map-pick and Elimination System -

This system might be used from time to time in different competitions to decide the maps.

1. Team on the left is assigned as “1st Team”, Team on the right is the “2nd Team”

2. 1st Team starts eliminating first map.

3. 2nd Team eliminates a second map.

4. Go on with the same procedure until 3 maps are left.

5. The team whose turn it is now nominates their map which will be played first.

6. After that the other team nominates their map which will be played as second.

7. The 3rd map is the first overtime map. If more maps are needed according to the specific competition rules, latest eliminated maps are played.

Example:

Please see specific competition rules for correct Map-Pool.

* 1st Team: “We eliminate dustbowl!” – remaining maps: well, granary, gravelpit, 2fort, turbine, badlands

* 2nd Team: “Oh no, but ok, we eliminate 2fort!!” – remaining maps: well, granary, gravelpit, turbine, badlands

* 1st Team: “Yes ok, bye bye badlands!” – remaining maps: well, granary, gravelpit, turbine

* 2nd Team: “It’s ok we remove turbine” – remaining maps: well, granary, gravelpit

* 1st Team: “Hum, our map will be granary then…” – remaining maps: well, gravelpit

* 2nd Team: “Okok, ours is gravelpit.” – remaining maps: well (-> decide
