mameshiba 20 Report post Posted January 25, 2012 Hello hello, Mameshiba here. Have you ever felt frustrated at the fact that the community (as a whole, we all know everyone has their own cliques) rarely bonds together as one? Ever felt angry at the fact that the only way you could get info about whether a pug was starting was through a billion announcements through Steam groups? Well, we bring you our VERY OWN.... http://www.mirc.com/images/indexlogo.gif[/img]IRC CHANNEL http://www.mirc.com/images/indexlogo.gif[/img] IRC channels have been pretty important in the creation of many messaging applications, and it's also where a lot of funny things have happened. In fact, there's a website dedicated to funny things that happened in IRC channels! (proof: http://bash.org/ ) With this, everyone can chat in a single large chatroom, find out if there're pugs or scrims going on and possibly even find mercs to substitute that lousy-no-good never-punctual teammate! In the future, we plan to implement pug and scrim bots to be integrated so that you can even join a pug through IRC! (The wonders of technology, I know.) Our final goal is to make the IRC as a single gathering point for all things competitive TF2 in Asia! ____________________________________________ This is the basics of downloading, installing and configuring mIRC! Steps: a) Go here: http://www.mirc.com/get.html - and then click the little edamame-colour-looking box that says "download" http://i.imgur.com/3IABN.png[/img] Save/Run it. c) Standard procedure here, lots of next, next, next, next, next and next until you get to the final installation button! d) Now, run mIRC and you will be met with a window that gives you an option to register or continue. Press the continue button. e) Fill in the required details, (note how I said required, because you don't need to write down the unrequired ones and further expose yourself to internet predators. *cough*Agent K*cough*) ______________________________________________________________ Now, the basics are done. If you're satisfied already, you can stop here, but if you want to make life easier, bear with me a little bit more for some nice commands to make life convenient! 1) Press Alt+O, this will open the options window. 2) Expand the Connect tree, and you'll see an Options. 3) Click it, and click on Perform at the right side, and do the following (the #ozfortress and #spammah is totally optional) [HOWEVER, joining #ozfortress and #nzfortress will be a nice addition to all things competitive TF2 in the Pacific and also giving our fellow comrades some support!]: http://i.imgur.com/VvRLf.png' alt='VvRLf.png'> 4) Ok, now repeat (f), except now, enter #support and then ask how to register yourself! And then, boom, #asiafortress IRC should become your new central hub for all things competitive TF2 in Asia! (Don't forget to restart mIRC so you can fully experience all these magical wonders!) Cheers!

Strykar 0 Report post Posted October 19, 2012 Thanks, I didn't want to download ANOTHER piece of junk I might only occasionally use. Yes, we all know instant messaging started with Facebook chat! A better alternative to mIRC circa 2012 is Hexchat (formerly xchat): http://www.hexchat.org
